PERCEPTION

It was 2011. I was in 6th standard in my native school. One of my neighbour boy who was 4 years younger than me said that he had went to watch the newly released movie 'Paramatma' with his elders. Even he said that that is the worst and boring movie he ever seen on big  screen. One day that movie was shown in well known Kannada channel Suvarna on a weekend. Still hearing that review from him, I waited and watched that movie on T.V. I had wondered and thought that why people are crazy about this 'dabba' movie! In a famous song "Usira Kacchi Kollale..." from that same movie, in a scene of race, a man had to carry his girl in his back and had to run towards the finishing ribbon. There while running, Deepa Sannidi bites Puneeth Rajkumar's shoulder hardly! In that age, I was totally puzzled why this, 'more-than-20years-old-horse!' exhibits such a childish behaviour. It took me a decade to realize that 'bite' as an act where romance meets wilderness!
Even that movie consists of great conversation between the couples.

Another film called "Pancharangi" by the same director also had impressed a perceptional error in my mind. Film starring Diganth and Nidhi Subbhayya. Story goes with closed conversations. This film was shot in Badila Guttu, Mangalore. In a night scene of beach, Diganth was lying on the sand. When he came to know that Nidhi was aproaching him he acted sleepy and posing as out of consciousness. She starting to express her feelings so that only he and waves can hear it. Her speech was very convenient to him. But my confusion was why he had not replied or talked on that beautiful woman's feelings instead of acting as unconscious!

These are the just 2 examples from my box of childhood memories. Even you may be having the numerous perceptional errors in your mind. Some may haunting from your childhood or some may from our day today life.
Perception varies with the intellect and intellect with the age. When we liberate from our own illusions, we will come across another perception on a respective subject. There is no real or fake perceptions. The ancient religion Jainism gave the idea of 'Anekantwad'. Which means multiple perceptions. Without judging a being through a single perception, we can understand him with multiple perceptions. We have a well known actor Upendra whose films are is incomprehensible if you don't watch it twice! We also have the movie 'Ulidavaru Kandanthe' which showing different perceptions on a single event.

Dancing Girl and Upagupta

I was taught the story of Upagupta twice in my student life. Once in the 8th Standard and again in the graduation. Same story, same lines but here in graduation, in the perception we were taight was different.  In high school, we were taught that the Dancing girl of Mathura invites Upagupta for nurishment for his disease skin disease. I was confused that why he had refused to go under treatment for his disease. But later in graduation, I got that the dancing girl portrayed on our high school study was just a dancing girl. But here she is a prostitute. May Upagupta refused her concern because of maintaining his celibacy.

Drona and Ekalavya

We were taught about the story of Drona and Ekalavya in Kannada lesson of 3rd standard. Even I had mono-acted that story. On those days it was taught that moral of the story was self-mentoring and respecting the teacher. Most of us still think so. But when I changed my perception it was resulted that Drona denied mentoring  archery to Ekalavya not because of he was inaffordable to pay the tution fee but his caste! This story not only teaches us the self-mentoring morale but also judging a individual based on his caste and birth which are accidental. It is extremely sad that these type of racism still prevailing in society in the name of 'orthodoxy'.
